LYRICS:Time is running fast and its hard to catch up I know isn't easy but with a little luck we can make it through, just me and you No one knows what life will bring, now you live and than you die, so live your life like kings I promise you that you'll see it''s good Now we're CHORUS: Sitting at the bonfire gazing at the stars, Talking nonsense about Whats its like on mars, and we love with timeless love Time is running fast and we are not the same, Thinking how it is if life is just a game and we love with timeless love Tonight Uuuu We had our ups and downs, we lost and we have found, when all this journey started I didn't know where I was going to now I see the truth It's never too late, to turn back and run, be sure it's ok, to get scared sometimes but I we can choose and we can't loose But now we're CHORUS: Sitting at the bonfire gazing at the stars, Talking nonsense about Whats its like on mars, and we love with timeless love Time is running fast and we are not the same, Thinking how it is if life is just a game and we love with timeless love Tonight And maybe it's all just a dream, and you'll wake up with another theme And there will be nobody like me and You're living life like I've never been But now we're Sitting at the bonfire gazing at the stars, Talking nonsense about Whats its like on mars, and we love with timeless love CHORUS: Now we're Sitting at the bonfire gazing at the stars, Talking nonsense about Whats its like on mars, and we love with timeless love Time is running fast and we are not the same, Thinking how it is if life is just a game and we love with timeless love Tonight Hello dear friends. This time I want to share with you the story behind the song "Rumors". Hayley Timmons wrote lyrics for this song. Music by Justinas Stanislovaitis and Mario Kernn The main thing I wanna tell you about this song is that it has few levels. I am trying to do this in all of our songs. For them to have few levels, few meanings. At first "Rumors" seems to be a song about an affair. And that is the first level. But the main meaning: Nowadays we have social media at it's best. More than half of the world are using one or another social media platform. And that is good, because communicating with your loved ones have never been easier, and in most of the countries it is reasonably cheap. But than again, there is a bright side, and the dark side. Rumors.... Nowadays people share their opinions (and that is also a good thing), but due to large amount of information, people started spreading Rumors more than ever. We see pictures, we hear Rumors and we make our own conclusions, without knowing the truth. And that is why hate is on the rise. And this sing is exactly about that. About people badmouthing each other not even thinking about consequences. And they hurt others, and that hurt gets back to them like a boomerang and we are becoming strangers. So this song is about that. So, here it goes. This is the last part of how did I get here series, but don't worry, we will continue to write about inspiring events, stories and all the info that is uplifting, or full of knowledge :)
So the Justin 3 band was born. It was I (Justinas Stanislovaitis), Mantas Macijauskas (Drummer) and Povilas Kavaliauskas (bassist). Since I was kind of tired of all rejections, I decided to make a cover band, and called it Justin 3. Nothing very serious, just an ordinary cover band. But since there was burning passion for music, I was writing songs, and my one of the best friends Povilas were encouraging me. So, one day, I saw that there is an international music competition in our neighbour country Latvia. It was like 3 hours driving from Vilnius, I decided, why not, let's make a trip and go there. So I signed up, and as I later learned, I was the first one to do that. So we went there, and to our surprise it was a huge contest with famous judges and Music TV filming it. We got a little bit scared, because we never thought that this big could happen to us. So we performed at our best and to our surprise we won. Won the 1st place. It was such an important victory after a long period of rejections. So, later we signed a contract with Naked Music Agency and first time in my life I met a manager that from the deepest bottom of my heart I could call a true friend. I don't know about her, maybe she didn't feel that way, but that person became a very important person, because she was a friend. So our road to success started, she started organising various gigs around Latvia, some smaller ones, some bigger ones and to this day, we got pretty far. Of Course, thanks to our fan and also a very good friend Gareth, for such a huge support. Thanks to him we got radio airplay on BBC radio One, Capital FM, Kiss FM and many other radio stations. Our fan from France Brizard Christèle, she supported us all the way from the start and still do, for this, we are forever grateful to her. Many people from Eurovision song Contest portals, who are very supportive every time we participate in this contest. And the reason why I am telling this is that, I don't know, maybe it's Karma, maybe Luck, or maybe world is just a very mysterious place and there are some unexplainable things in it. I have never met most of these people, I always tried to do the best I can for everyone, and I really mean it, I felt joy by helping others, and I still do of course, and somehow, world brought all of us together and they helped me as I helped some other people. And I guess we can say what goes around comes around. CONCLUSION So the conclusion is this my friends, be kind, being kind doesn't cost anything, and when you do something, believe in yourself, that also, doesn't cost anything :) so stay tuned. I am going tell more stories, more inspiring things, more things I have learned and of course if You have something to say, be my guest :) Best Of luck and talk to You soon ;) Lets continue where we left of. For those who just clicked on this blog post, the beginning of this story is here: How did I Get Here Part 2
ALIVE WAY When I have formed a band and randomly called it Alive Way, I was the one in charge. I took up a girl manager, we had a mutual goal, to get rich and famous, and so we began to work towards that goal. She was as green as I was, even though I was already working in so called "music business" for more than 3 years, I felt like a mentor to her, even though I didn't have a clue what I was doing. So we made a lot of mistakes, we made those mistakes together, blaming environment for those mistakes (well, who else to blame apart from environment). But we did learned a lot from those mistakes. The very important lesson which I learned was "If you feel like you are the best at what you do, you probably aren't". It is not a lesson to follow blindelly, because there are upside of thinking positively about yourself, and, of course downside. In this case, it was more of a downside. So we kept blaming environment, but improving daily, because the more we got rejected the angrier we became and the more energy we put into achieving our goals. So we were rehearsing, improving songwriting, recording new music, improving our recording quality and to our surprise, the more and more festivals invited us to perform, the more and more venues wanted us to perform and slowly our following increased. In two years we have already performed in the biggest Lithuanian festivals, got to finals in Eurovison song contest and were kind of on the road to success. But, the one thing is always an issue. When there are people in the band (in many other cases it can be a company or a group) that takes it for a hobby, and there were people like me and the manager who were trying to make it a full time career, this kind of goal difference cause arguments. And slowly, it rose to a rage where it was no longer possible to continue performing together. I was angry that people don't take it serious, they were angry that I was becoming a bitching perfectionist who is always complaining that something isn't right. And after 3 years of Alive Way I have decided that it came to an end. So, the band went separate ways. Again. And at that point it looked like music as a business was a bad choice. So I decided to stop pursuing musician career. After some time, one radio region CEO called me, since I was presenting new songs on their shows. They were looking for a new radio dj and a show host and asked me if I was interested in trying out this career. I accepted the offer. The first day was terrible. It looked like a 8 year old is trying to read and tell a story. I thought that this will be the first and a last day at work. But CEO kept tolerating me and in about 3 weeks I learned the basics, found my voice tone which sounds the best on radio and it looked like that I might be here for a while. So there was another lesson, and that lesson was that you can learn almost anything if you try hard enough and keep doing it. So during 2 years of working in radio as a DJ/Host I have learned the basic skills that actually really helped me to grow not only as a musician, but as a person. I have decided that I have put aside music for too long and that it was time to come back. My very good friend who is a junior surgeon at hospital said, lets form a band, and I said, well, if You find a drummer and learn to play bass, than let's do it. So he bought a bass guitar, learned to play from chords in about 3 or 4 weeks (again, the same lesson, a guy with absolutely no musical background learned to function as a bass player within 3 or 4 weeks, he wasn't the best bassist on earth, but he definitely did the job) so he found a drummer and the band Justin 3 was born. I will continue in the next blog post CONCLUSION One of the things I learned is that sometimes you need to take a step back in order to see a full picture, and that if you are persistent enough, you can do almost anything. I have way more to share so stay tuned and keep your head up high. Hello dear friends, fans and people I have never met.
If you are reading this, I would like to welcome you to the Journey of Justin 3. People constantly were asking me to write my thoughts which inspire others to pursue their goals, light fire during the darkest moments. I felt blessed when my friends and people around me told me that I actually inspire them. So here it is, my attempt to inspire You, dear reader. This journey isn't something mind blowing, it is like yours, your friend, family member or any other person on earth, and it is unique in its own way, but I guess we all are heroes in our own life movie. I truly believe You will find something very close to you, because most principles can be applied to almost any part of your life. So I decided to share my story, my thoughts and I will be doing this in Justin 3 Blog constantly. So welcome aboard dear fellow travelers, follow, share your thoughts in comments and lets march through life together. Because it is always easier to conquer new lands as an army rather than being lone wolf. So, here I go: THE BEGINING I will start from the beginning. I am now a full time musician, but It wasn't always like that. (Yes captain obvious). I started my first band with a friend at school and I did not know anything about success at that time. I was lightly bullied, long haired rock music fan, who truly believed in romance and I was convinced that there is more out there than meets the eye. So, I started a band. Called it Optimism, didn't know why, but I guess i was trying to compensate that very lack of optimism in myself. Life in school wasn't very interesting, I was constantly rehearsing, skipping classes, writing music. At first I was really bad at writing songs. After some time, I was still really bad at it. And after like 2 or 3 years, I was very bad at it. But kept doing. I was young, motivated, world didn't understand me and I was about to do something so big that it would suddenly open everyone eyes and they would see how deep and good I am. But, well, like I said, I was young. But I still kept doing it. Time was running and nothing big really happened, we started arguing with my friend, because he wanted to write his own music, I wrote my own music, but we were a band and the tension kept rising, because I wanted to do everything in my way, he had his own way, and after 4 years of trying to conquer the world with our music, we went separate ways. We were still kids, well, maybe in our 18's, we thought we were reasonable adults, but that wasn't anything like that. That was the first life changing lesson I learned, because he was my best friend at that time, and It felt like heart was breaking when love of your life leaves you. I didn't have many friends, didn't have girlfriend at that time, so I felt completely alone. Like every lesson you interpret it in your own way. I felt like I did a mistake that time, but this kind of change made me appreciate myself a little bit more, and when I had no back, I knew that now is everything down to me, I was my own boss, my own critic, my own mentor. It's not like I didn't have parents, I did, and thank god I still do, but when you are in a state like this, and especially your golden teenage years when you think that whole world is at your feet, parents goes to background. So, It was down to me to conquer the world. And that is when I understood that the more I focus on work I do, the better I will become (yes, it is such a simple and obvious resolution, but you know, it is like with workouts, the main problem with every workout is that you have to actually do it). So once it went to my brain and blood I made a promise that I will do my best every day, I will do even a tiny small task, every day to get closer to my goal. And I started my other band and called it Alive Way. (again, why did I called it, I had a problem with band names, I just needed one, and I really didn't spent a lot of time thinking of one, so I just took almost first result I came up with). I will tell you more about it in next blog post. CONCLUSION What I have learned during these early music career stage is that it is hard to rely on other people, but it is not their fault. They don't owe you anything, and you don't owe them anything, so it is just the matter of what you want from yourself, because nobody is going to do work for You, and it is all down to yourself, and when you do your part, than suddenly other like minded people will appear and will join your cause. But all about that in next blog post. Stay tuned my friends and like I said. Let me know your thoughts, insights, maybe you remember something from your early days that keeps you going up to now, share it. Let's march together! Best Regards Justin |
